Abigail didnt see how John and Lann having the exact same scent could work. First of all, if they were a boy and a girl, then they were fraternal twins, who were as genetically different as any other set of siblings, and would doubtless have just as differing scents. Second of all, he was a boy, and Lann was a girl. There was just no way that couldnt affect the way one smelled. Hormones, anyone?

But, there were still ways that his scent could make it into Lanns room even if he never actually set foot in there. Sibling interactionslike, oh, say, hugs or tusslingcould easily take his scent back. Still, his denial was weird, given what she knew of scentsmaybe he was just trying to get Nekoki off his back, and thought fibbing was the quickest way?

In any case, Nekokis choice of words were really creepy-soundingleaving his scent all over the room when she was asleep?

Suspicion of John jolted through Abigail like an electrical current. She might not like Nekoki personally, but that didnt change the fact that odds were against John on this. She looked at him with significant gaze, as though to let him know that she was now plenty on her guard. Abigail knew very well that one simply could NOT take chances when it came to males and creepiness. It was a simple fact of life. Sure, the majority were decent human beings...but you just couldn't risk making even one mistake.

One was all it took.

Delilah didn't think she'd like that. Perverse as she knew it was, she loved her scars. They were beautiful. They were a strange comfort only she understood. They were the best art she'd ever done. She'd gotten into an arguement with Daddy about how they were the only pretty thing about her. He didn't understand. No one did. But she liked it that way. Because that way, they were all hers. Hers hers hers.

"No, it's okay. I'm fine. Thanks, though.", she said, not answering the bit about doing her any good. For someone who was supposed to be bad at dealing with people, she felt she had decent evasion skills.

And she thought the girl had a nice rack.

"I...guess. Sure. Thanks. I mean, thank you.", said Delilah. If that was what she was supposed to do, she'd do it. Funny, how obediance and doing what she should seemed to go on and off for Delilah in such great extremes.

Abigail, meanwhile, was on her cel-phone, ringing upn the shelters to see who needed extra hands. It was a good thing she was, too, because if she'd heard John talking about being soul twins and switching bodies or whatever, she'd have dubbed him delusional and taken off, most likely. There was the type of crazy she hung out with, and then there was medical crazy.

She hated cel-phones, really...noisy, annoying, supporting commercialism...but the way she lived, they were a damned necessity.

At the sound of the explosion, Abigail dropped her phone and crouched on the ground with her arms over her head to protect herself from any falling debris that might ahve resulted from the explosion. Feeling nothing, she looked up and around for any damage or injuries that might ahve been done to others from the blast she'd heard.

John was standing over her. She was caught between admiration for his attempt to shield her, and the urge to teach him about how to duck-and-cover in case of an explosion instead of being a hero. Standing up, she said aloud,

"Urgh! Nikki NEVER quits! I admire the girl's brains, but she's got NO sense! One of these days, that nut is going to hurt somebody!"

He...he had disappeared.

Abigail stared at where he had gone, blinking a few times as she absorbed that fact. She'd met powered people of course--in a world where they existed, it didn't come with the same disbelief as it might in ours-- but it was always still such a shock when you saw somebody you didn't know was powered using their gifts.

But, if he was gone...

She knelt, picking up her cheap little phone--money did not exactly flow when you were one of three children with a single mom who lived on a teacher's salary-- and pocketed it. She'd gotten the info she needed before the explosion.

Too bad he'd split; he'd seemed okay. She was rather miffed, though, that he had said he would help her volunteer and then run off...he'd have some explaining to do the next time she saw him.
